Data Security & Privacy (Cybersecurity)
Marcela Moran, Data Privacy Officer
Technology is an integral part of the teaching and learning experience in the Valley Stream 30 Union Free School District. The ever-increasing availability of online teaching and learning resources comes with inherent risks and concerns regarding student data, privacy and student work. We as a district have a responsibility to ensure that student's data and privacy is adequately protected while using any online digital resource for school work. The Valley Stream 30 Union Free School District is providing the following information/resources for parents, teachers, and the community so that they can better understand what student data is, how student data is collected and used and the laws and practices that the district adheres to in order to protect student data and privacy.
Valley Stream District 30 is committed to protecting the privacy and security of student and staff data in accordance with state and federal laws. The resources below provide important information about your rights, our responsibilities, and the safeguards we have in place to ensure the confidentiality and appropriate use of educational data. We encourage all families to review these policies and learn more about how we prioritize data protection across our district.

ISTE Standards
According to ISTE's website, "The ISTE Standards work together to support educators, students and leaders with clear guidelines for the skills and knowledge necessary to move away from the factory model. These are not the typical boxes educators need to check. They provide a framework for rethinking education, adapting to a constantly changing technological landscape and preparing students to enter an increasingly global economy."
