2020-2027 STRATEGIC PLAN

The strategic plan of Valley Stream District 30 is grounded in the Partnership for 21st Century Learning (P21) Framework, a nationally recognized, research-based model that emphasizes critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, communication, and social-emotional skills. This framework aligns with the district’s vision to ensure all students are educated, inspired, and celebrated, preparing them to reach their full potential and become the Global Leaders of Tomorrow, today!

GOAL 1 | CORE SUBJECTS & 21ST CENTURY THEMES
Goal: Students will gain a strong foundation in core subjects and essential 21st-century skills.
Student Outcome: Students demonstrate mastery in reading, writing, math, science, and social studies while applying civic, financial, and global literacy skills.
Family Outcome: Families support learning at home and participate in conferences and school events to reinforce academic growth.

GOAL 2 | LIFE & CAREER SKILLS
Goal: Students will develop social-emotional and life skills to navigate challenges and build career readiness.
Student Outcome: Students develop the CASEL five competencies—self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making.
Family Outcome: Families reinforce social-emotional learning at home and support students’ growth in these competencies.

GOAL 3 | LEARNING & INNOVATION SKILLS
Goal: Students will grow critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving through enriched learning experiences.
Student Outcome: Students engage in creativity and innovation, critical thinking, effective communication, and collaboration to tackle complex problems.
Family Outcome: Families encourage participation in arts, enrichment, and exploration programs and support students’ engagement in innovative learning.

GOAL 4 | INFORMATION, MEDIA & TECHNOLOGY SKILLS
Goal: Students will develop digital literacy, technology skills, and safe online practices.
Student Outcome: Students use digital tools responsibly to research, create, communicate, and contribute in meaningful ways.
Family Outcome: Families support safe and effective use of technology and engage with students’ digital learning experiences.

GOAL 5 | COMMUNICATION
Goal: Students, families, staff, and community will engage meaningfully through partnerships and transparent communication.
Student Outcome: Students actively participate in school decisions, classroom leadership, and community opportunities.
Family Outcome: Families access information, participate in school initiatives, and engage in ways that support student success.

GOAL 6 | CAPITAL
Goal: Students will learn in safe, well-maintained facilities with access to resources and technology that enhance learning.
Student Outcome: Students experience a safe, supportive, and well-equipped learning environment that fosters academic success.
Family Outcome: Families have confidence in school facilities and resources and feel supported in their children’s education.
