As part of Spirit Week, our 6th grade students had an exciting time taking on some of our staff members in a friendly volleyball game! The gym was filled with energy, teamwork, and school spirit as students and staff competed, cheered each other on, and shared plenty of laughs. It was a fun and memorable experience that helped bring our school community together while celebrating Spirit Week!

Come celebrate a very special milestone as Shaw Ave Elementary School turns 75 years old! 🎉 Families are invited to join us on May 19th for an exciting evening at the Shaw Ave Art Showcase from 5:30pm–7:30pm, where our hallways will be filled with incredible student artwork, school spirit, and community pride. Be sure to stop by the Panther Photo Booth to take a picture with our Shaw Panther mascot and help us celebrate 75 amazing years of learning, growth, and memories together!

📸 Special Incentive: The top three classes with the highest number of students who take a picture with the Panther will receive a special incentive!

We can’t wait to celebrate with all of our Shaw families for this memorable community event full of art, fun, and Panther pride! 💙❤️

 Adventure was waiting at the Henry Waldinger Library today! Ms. Critelli & Ms. Vinciguerra's class had so much fun walking with Mrs. Arena's class, exploring books, and learning all about our community library. So proud of these amazing readers and walkers!

Spheres, Cylinders, Cubes, and Cones, Oh My! Ms. Sinclair's Pre-K class had a blast reading books and dancing to fun songs while learning about 3D shapes! Students explored real-world objects and identified the 3D shapes they found in our everyday lives. These amazing kids also developed their fine motor skills by coloring, cutting, and pasting objects and sorted them into their correct 3D categories! Our littlest learners are sure making big strides in Pre-K this year!

Ms. Franks’ class recently visited the Washington Avenue Kindergarten Center, where students participated in an engaging pulse experiment! It was a fun and hands-on science experience that helped bring learning about the human body to life!

Students in Mr. Clark’s gym class had a great time participating in a fun and engaging parachute activity during physical education! Working together as a team, students practiced communication, cooperation, and coordination while using the colorful parachute in a variety of exciting activities and games. The lesson encouraged teamwork, movement, and plenty of smiles as students stayed active and engaged throughout class!

As part of Spirit Week, our 6th graders showed off their school spirit during Jersey and Athletic Wear Day! Students proudly wore their favorite team jerseys, sports apparel, and athletic gear while celebrating teamwork, positivity, and school pride. The day was filled with excitement and helped bring even more energy and spirit throughout the building.

Mrs. Belmonte's, Mrs. Forcina's and Ms. Sinclair's Pre-K Classes participated in a fun bubbles workshop hosted by the Long Island Children's Museum! They learned that bubbles are made from soap and water and you need air or wind in order to make a bubble! They created bubble art and played with many objects to make bubbles. They realized that no matter what the shape of the object used, all bubbles are round! All were excited to play with the bubbles!!

6th Grade Spirit Day was a huge success with our TEAM USA THURSDAY celebration! 🇺🇸 Students and staff showed their school spirit by dressing in red, white, and blue while celebrating teamwork, pride, and school community.

As part of Spirit Week, our 6th graders participated in “Dress for Success” Day! Students came to school dressed in their best professional and formal attire, showing confidence, creativity, and school spirit. It was wonderful to see our students looking polished and proud while celebrating the importance of setting goals, working hard, and dressing for success!
