It was a day of collaboration and community when student leaders gathered at Clear Stream Avenue Elementary School in Valley Stream District 30 on March 1.

Members of the Athletes Helping Athletes program at Valley Stream Central High School visited Clear Stream to show leadership and instill various life lessons. The program focuses on sports leadership by conducting educational programs with athletes and students. In each classroom, they spoke to sixth graders about the positive influence of sports on their lives on and off the field.

Sixth graders engaged with their peers through an activity that challenged them to describe the best reaction to situations that involved bullying and abuse. Groups communicated and agreed that they should be inclusive and accepting. The positive lessons will continue as students in the Athletes Helping Athletes program continue their visits to Clear Stream.
