Students, administrators and staff at Valley Stream District 30 gathered under the tent at Shaw Avenue Elementary School to close out the year with the year’s theme “Let’s Move Again” still going strong.

The audience enjoyed a performance by dancers in the Phyllis Rose Dance Company, which features routines inspired by dance styles from all over the world. Captivating performances included styles of salsa, bachata and more choreographed and performed by international dancers. A Spanish street performer also twirled dozens of hula hoops before calling students up to participate.

During the event, New York State Assemblywoman Michaelle Solages presented a proclamation to Dr. Nicholas Stirling, who is retiring this month. The district also honored Dr. Stirling’s decade of leadership and service with a plaque that will appear in the schools.
