GLOBAL LEADERS OF TOMORROW

ADVISORY COUNCIL

WHAT DO THEY DO?

The Advisory Council is a select district-level leadership team of sixth graders from all three schools, who:

  • Meet bi-monthly with the Superintendent of School to engage in civic discussions, problem-solving, and leadership development
  • Focus on an annual United Nations Sustainable Development Goal
  • Conduct research, strengthen critical thinking, create a personal resume, and deliver a three-minute TED-style talk to their peers."
  • Receive a medallion, certificate and a letter of recommendation from the Superintendent.

APPLICATION PROCESS
Students apply via a short Google form, written responses, and a three-minute video. Selection is holistic, considering responses, video, academics, attendance, extracurriculars, and leadership potential. After selection, the Superintendent forwards the list of students not accepted to principals, who may consider them for the Advocates program. Advocates engage in school-based civic and leadership activities and apply through a resume.
