Students in the Giving Club at Shaw Avenue Elementary School in the Valley Stream District 30 have organized a school-wide sock drive to benefit those in need.

The second annual drive, organized by fourth and fifth graders, runs until Dec. 23 and the collection is already piled up. On the doors to the school library, students have “decked the halls” showing off some of the festively colored donations.

The socks will be sent to the Long Island Coalition for the Homeless.
