It was an evening of appreciation during the Oct. 25 Valley Stream District 30 Board of Education meeting. In recognition of School Board Recognition Week, district administrators spent time thanking the board for their commitment and dedication to the students and staff of the Valley Stream 30 School District.

“This is something we look forward to every year,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Nicholas Stirling. “This year, we are celebrating the board for their time, service and commitment.”

Dr. Stirling continued by introducing each member individually and sharing their years of service.

As a special celebration, Shaw Avenue Elementary School created a video presentation for the members of the board of education. Through skits and songs, the video featured students and staff members showcasing to the board the results of their hard work throughout the years, including the strategic plan, the prekindergarten program and the redesigned enrichment for all.

“We analyzed your annual goals and created this video to provide a glimpse of your hard work and how much we appreciate it,” Shaw Avenue Elementary School Principal Christopher Colarossi said.

To thank the board, Mr. Colarossi was joined by his Assistant Principals Andrew Canlé and Christina Alicea-Cosme.
