Science
In grades K-2, our students are introduced to scientific concepts through BOCES ESP hands-on learning kits. In grades 4-6, students continue to use science kits from Delta Education and kits created by Mr. Laudano, as well as science textbooks to help them expand their vocabulary, learn new science content, increase scientific literacy, and practice problem-solving. In addition to coordinating our science curriculum, Mr. Laudano pushes into third-and fourth-grade classrooms to teach and model hands-on science lessons. He also organizes the grade-six science fair projects that encourage our students to explain, analyze, and interpret scientific processes using the scientific method. Our students have continued to do well in both the performance and written parts of the NYS Grade 4 Science Assessment.
This year the District will review its science programs by researching new instructional materials in order to continually ensure that students are engaged by science and successful in science.
