Valley Stream 30 Receives Recognition
Valley Stream 30 has been recognized by the S3TAIR project for our effective practices in literacy. Supporting Successful Strategies To Achieve Improved Results (S3TAIR) is a New York State Education Department Office of Special Education project, supported in part by a federal grant. S3TAIR seeks to find schools with effective, evidence-based practices in literacy instruction, positive academic and behavior interventions and supports, and/or effective special education instruction. Valley Stream 30 was nominated in the area of literacy for our student monitoring model. This model includes regular literacy support team meetings regarding all students on an ongoing basis. The Valley Stream 30 literacy monitoring model was found to be an exemplar model by the S3TAIR project, and we have been awarded the distinction of being named an Effective Practice School District.
We are excited that a representative from the New York State Education Department program will be visiting Valley Steam 30 to personally present the school district with a certificate of recognition and best practices’ banner. They will do so on February 1st at 8:00 p.m. at Shaw Avenue Library when the Board, staff and parent community members will be assembled for the Budget Forum. The certificate of recognition will be accepted on behalf of the Board, teachers, administrators and families for the united effort of the Valley Stream 30 community in supporting the success of our students.
